HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language. It is a well known mark up language used to develop web pages. It has been around for a long time and is commonly used in webpage design. HTTP, on the other hand, stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol. It is a means of data communication for the World Wide Web. It is an application protocol for distributed, collaborative, hypermedia information systems.

HTTP = HyperText Transfer Protocol - the TCP/IP-based protocol used for transferring webpages from servers to clients.

HTTP just is a protocol use to transfer data on internet.

They are two seperate things! They are not interchangeable like you are choosing between two different programming languages. One is an Internet protocol (HTTP) and the other is the Internet programing language (HTML). If you are going to create your own web site, you are going to have to use BOTH.
HTTP (Hypertest Transfer Protocol) is the code in a web address URL that specifies that you are looking for a common web site. Basically this protocol establishes the standard that computers on the Internet use to communicate and transfer data through web browsers. Other protocols you might see instead of HTTP are things like FTP, GOPHER and HTTPS.
HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) is the programming language that web pages are created in. When you publish a website to a host, this is the core language that the website is coded in.

HTML is a description "language" for how to present information that passes via http, HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language and has multiple "versions" that change as our use of the world wide web changes.
Hyper Text Transfer Protocol, http, is a computer protocol or set of procedures, describing how computers may pass information in an orderly fashion. The great thing about http is it is not just related to one single protocol but is built to deal with a conglomeration of many protocols allowing different things to be handled easily in one well known package.
Http says how to pass the info, HTML says how to organize the raw data and present it at the other side.
HTML is one of many markup languages (SGML, XHTML, DHTML...) but is the most used as it was the one chose to present info over the world wide web.

HTML is the language of web pages. A Word document contains text and formatting code for example. The text code is the content and the formatting code tells Word how to display the text on the screen / page. HTML is very similar. It contains the content (which is easily edited). It's the formatting code that determines how a web page's content will look in a browser.
HTTP is the protocol that is used to request and deliver web page content (as files). When your browser requests a web page from a web server, it uses HTTP. But the owner of the web page uses FTP protocol to actually put the files on the web server (using the same address), or delete them from the server because there will be new files, or uploading new files. But both protocols use the same link (the internet).

Wow, I like this site... I just understand it easily.
